Zara Edgingway is a twenty-six year old secretary. She has a daughter that apparently knows it all and a best friend that could possibly have the mouth of Satan, but she’s been with her through hell and back. Then there’s the hunk’a’licious biker neighbor finally showing interest in her. If only she wasn’t about to face her next obstacle in life, the one she ran from six years ago; her ex-husband.

Talon Marcus is the president of the Hawks Motorcycle Club. For two years he’s had his eye on the quiet, reclusive, yet sassy, neighbor Zara. Finally, he has the chance to claim her as his woman. Just when her past catches up with her, she’ll need, not only his protection, but the help from his biker brothers.

Now, if only she’d stop fighting him along the way.

Main Characters

My Zara Edgingway

Zara “Kitten” Edgingway: She is 26 with a short stature, slight curves and lightly tanned skin due to Mexican heritage. Her hair is long wavy brown and she has dark green eyes. I believe she has an un-diagnosed obsession with kitty pajamas.

My Talon Marcus

Talon Marcus: A “Hunk’o’saurus” in his mid-to-late thirties with messy black hair, dark brown eyes and broad shoulders.

Maya: Zara’s 6 year old daughter. Full of life, smart

Cody: Talon’s 12 year old son. Very shy

Review

Be warned, this is not your typical biker romance. There are certainly some gritty moments but I would file this book closer to the quirky end of the spectrum.

That being said, I loved it. Each character has their own distinct personality and individual “voice” when it comes to dialog. It is very well edited and read very smoothly.

I loved the hero: described as both a “hunk’o’saurus” and “chauvinist-ass-hat” by Zara. Talon is wonderful with Maya and protective of Zara.  He has the perfect amount of alpha tendencies for me.

With that, he grabbed my chin, kissed me hard and quick, before my knee had the chance to hit is groin, and left.

Of course, I watched his muffin-of-love ass walk away, and I was sure he knew it.

I adored the heroine: She escaped an abusive relationship where she was beaten and raped (resulting in her daughter, Maya). It has not killed he zest for life as it would most. I think that may be what I love best about Zara. She does not curse and is even a bit shy about sex lingo.

“This, uh, shouldn’t happen beween us”
“Christ. What is going on now? You’d just said you’re-”
“Wait. That wasn’t me talking; that was…ah, my…um, fandola”
“Your fuckin’ what?”
“You know. My-” with my eyes I gestured to my privates,”-down there.”
He smiled, and then burst out laughing.

I even fell a bit in love with the supporting characters. The banter between Zara and Deanna is too funny and felt very similar to Tara Sivec’s sense of humor (Author of Seduction and Snacks)

I really enjoyed every moment of this book and would highly recommend it as long as you don’t go into it expecting the type of gritty biker romance like the Undeniable series.

How in the hell could there be so many good-looking men in Talon’s club?
Wait, maybe he interviewed them, and when they walked in, he’s snap his fingers and say, ‘Nuh-uh, you ain’t smokin;, you can’t join.’
