Outlander Reading Order

Outlander Reading Order

You don’t need to read the novellas or sub novels in order to know what is going on in the main books. Of course, if you are like me, this explanation is pointless because the moment you read anything of Gabaldon’s you will be hooked. Continue reading

Author Spotlight: Diana Gabaldon

Author Spotlight: Diana Gabaldon

Gabaldon has managed to do what I believe is nearly impossible. She has not only managed to maintain her series for 23 years (yeah, you read that right), she has also managed to drastically increase her fan-base, have her books adapted for television, and reach bestseller status for all of her primary works in the Outlander Series. Continue reading

By this point in the Outlander Series, I am so completely and totally hooked that Gabaldon could write 900 pages about Claire and Jamie doing laundry and I would still love it. Not everyone feels that way, but I don’t think that I am in any way the minority in my opinion. Continue reading

It goes without saying (but I will say it anyway) that the writing excellent. Gabaldon has had her novels edited and re-edited to the point where the final product is polished. Each character has so much depth and so many unique qualities that it is easy to keep them straight -even though there are so many. The dialogue flows smoothly and is individualized for each person. Outlander… you know you want to

Outlander series can be a bit overwhelming.  The series is made up of several large novels (8 currently) and a few novellas.  There is also a spin-off series, The Lord John Gray Series, that runs along the same timeline. Some of the characters intersect; so while it is not necessary to read them along with the large novels, it does make for a better reading experience. Continue reading

I have read each book of the Outlander series at least four times as well as listened to the audiobooks. It is such a wonderful story with characters that seem so real you feel like you know them in real life. This book is my favorite of the series because it is jam packed with history as well as rich Scottish culture. Just writing this review makes me want to read it again. You will laugh, cry, and love with Claire and Jamie. Continue reading

One of my favorite things about this novel (and the entire series), is that the characters are so richly developed that you can’t help but feel like to you know them all, especially since each character has such a unique voice. The entire book is so detailed that you can visualize every moment as if a movie were playing in your head. Continue reading
